How to practise it

  1. One finger per fret: index on 5, middle on 6, ring on 7, pinky on 8.
  2. Keep fingers close to the strings and leave each one down until you need it.
  3. Strict alternate picking: down, up, down, up — also when you change strings.
  4. Start at 60 BPM. Only speed up when you can play it cleanly three times in a row — the goal is 120 BPM.
