G major, three notes per string

G major over two octaves with exactly three notes on each string — the layout fast players use. One string per beat makes the triplet rhythm easy to feel.

How to practise it

  1. Each beat = one string. Count "1-trip-let, 2-trip-let".
  2. Stretch with your pinky on frets 7 and 8 instead of shifting your hand.
  3. Strict alternate picking means every other string starts with an up-stroke.
  4. Start at 50 BPM. Only speed up when you can play it cleanly three times in a row — the goal is 110 BPM.
