Shortcuts for learning the ukulele neck
The open strings spell G C E A — "Good Cooks Eat Apples". With the usual high G, the G string is tuned higher than the C string next to it, which is what gives the ukulele its bright, ringing strum.
The notes go A B C D E F G, with one fret between each pair — except B–C and E–F, which sit right next to each other. To find a note on the next string: the E string matches the C string at fret 4, the A stringmatches the E string at fret 5, and the high G string matches the C string at fret 7.
Next step: see scales on the ukulele neck or strum along to a chord progression.
